From Garment Factories to Summer Splash | Passing the Baton in Brooklyn’s Chinese Community

Grace Mo has spent decades serving the Fuzhounese immigrant community in Brooklyn, starting with outreach to Chinese garment factory workers and eventually creating Summer Splash, a safe and nurturing program for children of immigrant families. Her greatest joy has never been personal recognition, it’s seeing the next generation step up. What began with 25 kids has grown into a program serving over 200 youth, many of whom have returned as leaders, carrying forward the mission of service and community care. Through Dorcas Ministries and Summer Splash, Grace’s vision has always been to empower others to continue the work: to give children a place to learn, grow, and eventually take the baton of leadership.
